Getting Married at Christ Church

If you live within the parish or you have done for at least 6 months in the past, you are eligible to be married at Christ Church Clifton. To find out if you live in our parish, please enter your postcode here.  For more details on qualifying connections of where you can get married please click here.  There's more information in our booklet: getting married at Christ Church.

If you think you have a qualifying connection to get married at Christ Church or have any queries, please contact our Life Events administrator at the church office.

For more information on planning a church wedding, please visit the Church of England website here or look at our booklet on planning a wedding at Christ Church.

Please note: The church is very busy in the lead up to Christmas so we tend to avoid weddings in December, and we do not offer the church building for wedding receptions.

Banns of Marriage

If you live in our parish and are getting married elsewhere, you will need your banns to be read in Christ Church. To find out if you live in our parish, please enter your postcode here. Please contact us at least 6 months before your wedding date to arrange for your banns to be read.

Pre- Marriage Course

Periodically we run a pre-marriage course, which is a great opportunity for any engaged couple to invest in their relationship. They are fun and practical days - designed to help you get your marriage off to the best start.

Planning your Visit

About Us Header

Christ Church is a great place to be – we’re a very diverse group of people who have one thing in common: we’ve encountered an extravagantly generous God who loves us unconditionally.

In Jesus, he’s welcomed and accepted us, made us part of his world-wide family, is healing our brokenness and restoring in us what it means to be truly human.

He calls us to be as generous to one another and to our world as he has been to us. The bible calls this culture of generous welcome and unconditional love ‘The Kingdom of God.’

This Kingdom is a place of transformation where earth begins to look like heaven, and we want to play our part in seeing it grow in our own lives, in Clifton, Bristol and beyond.

We know it’s impossible to achieve this ourselves and so we seek partnership with others who also look for the coming of God’s Kingdom.

Above all, we continually pursue a deeper love for, intimacy with, and understanding of Jesus – believing that this is the key to unlocking what is impossible for us.  Read on to learn more about our vision.

With so many different people making up our church family, and so many things going on, we’re confident there’s a place for everyone. Please come along and see for yourself - details of upcoming events can be found on our online calendar or at the Welcome Area in church, and if you don’t find what you’re looking for, please do ask.

We look forward to welcoming you whenever you visit.
