Christmas is coming

This Sunday is Advent Sunday, marking the start of our preparations to celebrate the birth of Jesus. You can find out more about this year’s Christmas services and events on our website at www.ccweb.org.uk/christmas, or pick up one of the invitation cards available at Church.

Christmas is an amazing mission opportunity when as a Church family we have the privilege of inviting our friends and neighbours to experience Christmas at church. With this in mind, there are three ways you can get involved:

  1. Take a bundle of invitation cards and pray about who you can invite this year.
  2. Help distribute invitation cards to the houses in our parish. We shall be doing this on Monday 5th December (the night of our December monthly prayer meeting) when we shall be prayer-walking the parish from 7:30pm.
  3. Sign up to help with one of the practical tasks over the Christmas period. It would be wonderful if every member of the church family did just one thing over the next month to help. You can find all the details and sign up at www.ccweb.org.uk/signup.

Marvin is coming

We’re absolutely thrilled that the Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, will be with us on Sunday 29th January, preaching at the 10 and the 5 and sharing his vision for Bristol. He will also be with us on Saturday 28th January for the grand opening of The Spire Coffee Shop – more details at www.ccweb.org.uk/thespire.

A Refugee’s Story

30th November, 7:45 pm at Hope Community Church BS8 4ND

The Family Life Mission Shaped Community at Christ Church invites you to an evening with Innocent Magambi - author of "Refugee for Life". Innocent was born a refugee and spent the first 27 years of his life in five refugee camps in East Africa. He will be speaking about his long search for a place called home and sharing his stories of injustice, loss, survival and the amazing divine appointments that eventually led him to set up a Christian non-profit called "There is Hope" in Malawi, which provides opportunities for refugees and their families. This is a free event, but please rsvp at Relationships@btinternet.com

Finally

Don’t forget the Artisan Christmas Market at Christ Church tomorrow from 10am to 4pm. It’s the perfect place to get all your Christmas shopping sorted in one go!
